Modern Tyres at the National Ploughing Championships 2019
This year marked the 88th year of the National Ploughing Championships and Modern Tyres were there for about the 50th year running.
Every year the National Ploughing Championships marks Europe’s leading outdoor trade exhibition agricultural outdoor event. Each year the show attracts an impressive 250,000 - 300,000 visitors over the 3 day period making it a powerhouse attraction for the biggest names in the Agri world.
Machinery is the big pull at the National Ploughing championships with the ultimate exhibition in pioneering agricultural technology and equipment with all the biggest names in the industry.
The latest in every vehicle type you can image takes it’s place at the show for example tractors, farm trailers, harvesting machines, backhoes, skid steer loaders, telehandlers, ATVs, 4x4s, barrows and so on. Quite a lot of these, if not most of them, will require new tyres at some point and this is were we come in.
Since its inception by company founder Jimmy Byrne, Modern Tyres has operated at a local level first and foremost. This ideal has been instilled into the company which is still family run by Jimmy’s four sons - Niall, Rory, Shane and Connor.
Working at a local level throughout the country allows Modern Tyres the ability to deal with the multi-faceted requests and needs of its customers in the agricultural sector no matter how complex. Modern Tyres approaches every customers need with a sense of responsibility to get them up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Jimmy Byrne has built Modern Tyres up to be Ireland’s largest retail tyre company and will continue to be the only truly local tyre company for many generations to come.
Thanks to all our staff who were involved in the set up and take down of our stand at this years Ploughing Championships in Carlow. It was great to see so much interest and support for our three agricultural brands; Vredestein, Ceat and Galaxy. Thanks also to the man that started Modern Tyres, Jimmy Byrne for coming down to check out the changes from when this old photograph was taken of him exhibiting at the show circa 40 years ago.
