Full Attack For Fisher On This Weekends Circuit
Nick Williams Ulster Rugby’s back row gave Alastair Fisher his full backing for this weekend’s Circuit of Ireland Rally when the two of them met at Modern Tyres in Belfast yesterday.
Nick knows so well in his sport how difficult European competition can be with Ulster competing in the European Rugby Champions Cup. For Alastair this weekend’s challenge on the Circuit of Ireland Rally will also involve competitors from France, Sweden, Poland with crews travelling from as far away as Russia. There is also a good entry from Ireland and the UK. Seeded at number 6 in a field of 165 cars Fisher has proved he is a serious contender with many successes at home and abroad and admits he would love to see the Fisher name back on the winner’s trophy. Its seventeen years from his late Uncle, the very well known Bertie Fisher won the Circuit.

Alastair is giving himself every opportunity competing in the latest specification R5 Fiesta he should be featuring high on the leader board when the rally gets underway tomorrow morning. “I’d like to be challenging at the front but I’m under no illusions. There are at least nine or ten drivers who could win this rally and it could come down to who can stay out of trouble or get a lucky break.” He said.

It promises to be a great battle over the two day event and one in which the Fisher name should figure like so many other events in the past.
